            Univerzita Karlova opětovně vyjadřuje vážné znepokojení nad odsouzením Bahruze Samadova, d
            Fakulty sociálních věd UK, kterému byl v Ázerbájdžánu uložen trest odnětí svobody na patná

            základě obvinění z vlastizrady a extremismu. Univerzita Karlova dlouhodobě spolupracuje s 
            akademickými institucemi a vždy podporovala otevřený dialog a partnerské vztahy. Tento roz
            nepřijatelný a politicky motivovaný.


            Bahruzu Samadovovi i jeho rodině vyjadřujeme plnou solidaritu. Věříme, že rozhodnutí bude 

            duchu spravedlnosti a ochrany lidských práv. Stejný požadavek zazněl i v Evropském parlame
            rezolucí dne 18. prosince 2025 důrazně odsoudil verdikt nad Bahruzem Samadovem a vyzval k 
            bezpodmínečnému propuštění, stejně jako k ukončení represí vůči akademikům a obraně akadem


            Univerzita Karlova bude situaci nadále sledovat a hledat možnosti mezinárodní podpory pros
            partnerských univerzit. Současně bude usilovat o to, aby se hlas akademické obce ozýval ja

            vedl ke sdílení společných výzev a ochraně lidských práv a svobod.

            * Statement by the Rector of CU on the conviction of CU SOC doctoral student Bahruz Samado

            Charles University once again expresses its serious concern over the sentencing of Bahruz 
            doctoral student at the Faculty of Social Sciences, who was sentenced to fifteen years in 
            Azerbaijan on charges of treason and extremism. Charles University has long cooperated wit

            academic institutions and has always supported open dialogue and partnership relations. It
            verdict unacceptable and politically motivated.


            We express our full solidarity with Bahruz Samadov and his family. We believe that the dec
            reviewed in the spirit of justice and the protection of human rights. The same demand was 
            European Parliament, which, in its resolution of December 18, 2025, strongly condemned the

            Bahruz Samadov and called for his immediate and unconditional release, as well as an end t
            of academics and the defense of academic freedoms.


            Charles University will continue to monitor the situation and seek international support t
            partner universities. At the same time, it will strive to ensure that the voice of the aca
            is heard clearly and emphatically, leading to the sharing of common challenges and the pro

            rights and freedom.
