Academic Senate confirms Egyptologist Miroslav Bárta

            Leading Czech Egyptologist and archaeologist Miroslav Bárta has been confirmed by the Acad

            of Charles University as the next Vice-Rector for Public Affairs; the Senate backed Profes
            naming on Friday; the news was confirmed for the Czech News Agency by university spokesper
            Professor Bárta received backing from 40 members of the Academic Senate; three members vot

            two abstained.


            The professor, who heads the respected Czech Institute of Egyptology, will be officially n
            on Monday, May 20, by Rector Tomáš Zima.
            Earlier, the post of Vice-Rector for Public Affairs was held by historian Martin Kovář who

            late 2018 after facing allegations of plagiarism in his work.
