We're looking for a candidate to fill a scientific and pedagogical role at the Institute of Physics, Charles University. Responsibilities include grant-funded research and around 4 hours of teaching per week.
Qualification and Other Requirements:
  • Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in the relevant area.
  • At least 10 years of experience with biophysical, optical, spectroscopic and microscopic characterization techniques of biological systems including living cell samples.
  • Hands-on experience with cell cultivation and preparation of in vivo and in vitro biological samples.
  • Experience with the research of transport processes in yeast is an advantage.
  • A track record of research stays outside the country of the applicant’s origin.
  • Regular publication in impacted journals.
  • Positive attitude towards pedagogical work, ability to integrate research and teaching activities.
  • Ability to supervise student theses and student projects is expected. Track record of these activities is required.
  •  Proficiency in teaching in both Czech and English.
  • We expect capability of independent and team work, activity in preparation of grant proposals and regular publication in impacted journals.
Required education:Ph.D., CSc, Th.D. or comparable education abroad
Required language skills:
  • English - B1 Independent User
  • Czech - B2 Independent User
Employment Type and Scope:Full time employment, 40 hours per week
Expected Start Date:January 01, 2026 or negotiable
Duration of Contract:3 years
