From 1991 studied at St. Edmund Hall, Oxford. In the late 1990s, he was Head of the Chancellor's Off University. After receiving his Ph.D., he habilitated as an associate professor of Czech a legal history in 1999. Subsequently, in 2005 he was awarded a professorship. He was first for two terms from 2014 to 2022 also dean of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University. He many monographs and cited works in legal history. Publication and creative activities: He is the author or co-author (mostly with Assoc. Prof. Jan Němeček) of 20 monographs and of documents on the history of Czechoslovak foreign policy and the Czechoslovak government 1939-1945, author of more than 100 scientific articles and teaching texts.
