Statement of Charles University on the current situation in Ukraine

            Prague, 21 February 2014 – It is with great regret that Charles University follows the cur

            in Ukraine. We are outraged to hear of the use of violence, which has resulted in dozens o
            and hundreds of injured. The practices used are entirely incompatible with the basic value
            civilization. We therefore make an appeal for a political solution to the current crisis.

            We strongly condemn the methods employed, which are in flagrant breach of basic, universal
            values. We offer Ukrainian students, exposed to violence the possibility of completing the
            Charles University through the University’s Václav Havel Grant, announced in January.
