CONSOLIDATED RULES FOR AWARDING MEDALS OF CHARLES UNIVERSITY OF 16 DECEMBER 2016 ****************************************************************************************** Under sections 9 (1) (b) and 17 (1) (k) of Act No. 111/1998 Sb., to regulate higher educat and to change and amend other laws (“the Higher Education Act”), as amended, and under Art the Constitution of Charles University the Academic Senate of Charles University has adopt Rules for Awarding Medals of Charles University as an internal regulation: *========================================================================================= * Article I Introductory Provisions *========================================================================================= These Rules regulate the awarding of memorial medals (“medals”) of Charles University (“th and medals of faculties to members of the academic community of the University along with have played an important role in the development of the University or its faculty, or in t science, learning, or academic freedom. ****************************************************************************************** * Part I Awarding of University Medals ****************************************************************************************** *========================================================================================= * Article 2 University Medal   *========================================================================================= 1.University medals are awarded in two degrees: a.gold; b.silver. 2.The University also awards: a.the Historical medal of the University; b.special medals for specific occasions if so provided by the Rector. One degree of these medals is awarded. 3.The Rector’s office keeps records of the University medals awarded in a special register serial numbers and the degrees of medals. 4.Three copies of each model of the University medals awarded are permanently deposited in the University. *========================================================================================= * Article 3 Proposal for Awarding a University Medal *========================================================================================= Proposals for awarding a University medal containing the degree and reasoning may be submi a.the Academic Senate of the University; b.the Rector; c.the Research Board of the University; d.the Chief Financial Officer of the University; e.the academic senate of a faculty; f.the dean of a faculty; g.the research board of a faculty; h.the director of another unit of the University; i.the research board of a university institute of the University. *========================================================================================= * Article 4 Awarding a University Medal *========================================================================================= 1.The Rector decides on the awarding of a University medal. 2.University medals are awarded on behalf of the University by the Rector, or a Vice-Recto him, in a ceremony. A diploma on the awarding of the medal is presented at the same time. ****************************************************************************************** * Part III Final Provisions ****************************************************************************************** *========================================================================================= * Article 8 Final Provisions *========================================================================================= 1.These Rules were approved by the Academic Senate of the University on 28 January 2000. 2.These Rules come into force on the date of registration by the Ministry of Education, Yo 3.The Code becomes effective on the first day of the calendar month following the date of force. This change came into forc registration by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, which was completed on 15 May effective on 1 July 2015.
