Postdoc position at the Institute of Theoretical Physics in gravitational physics with a focus on higher-derivative theories
|Workplace:||Faculty of Mathematics and Physics - School of Physics - Institute of Theoretical Physics|
|Job Offer Code:||202303-PD-MFF-UTF-004|
|ITP is an internationally recognized place of excellence in theoretical gravitational physics. The institute offers a vibrant and supportive environment, together with plentiful opportunities to collaborate with numerous experts in Prague’s relativity community and with a large number of students and postdocs trained at ITP. The position is offered for 2 years with a possible extension for another year. Applicants may apply for multiple postdoctoral positions simultaneously open at the ITP. The application must be submitted for each position separately.|
|Qualification and Other Requirements:||The research position within the project of dr. Ivan Kolář. The project aims to study gravitational theories and scalar field theories (in the presence of gravity) that contain higher derivatives of finite or infinite order (nonlocal theories). The research will focus on solving some of the following problems: exact and approximate solutions of higher-derivative theories of gravity, higher-derivative scalar field theories in curved spacetimes from the classical and quantum viewpoint, regularity of fields and curvature in the context of functions and (non-linear) distributions. The expertise of the applicant should be close to one of the following topics: general relativity and modified theories of gravity, exact solutions and their interpretation (black holes, gravitational waves, etc.), quantum gravity or quantum theory in curved spacetimes, higher derivatives, and nonlocality.|
|Expected Start Date:||September 01, 2023 or negotiable|
|Term contract:||2 years|
|Informal inquiries can be sent to:||firstname.lastname@example.org|
APPLICATION SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
The application with required attachments should be sent by e-mail to email@example.com by the deadline. The subject of this e-mail should contain the ID of the position.
