University Diplomas
A diploma is proof of the completion of a degree programme in the given field of study. Displaying the national coat of arms of the Czech Republic, it bears the name of the University and the name of the academic degree conferred on the holder. It is usually awarded in a special graduation ceremony.
All graduates who complete their studies at Charles University after 30 September 2025 will receive the documents proving the completion of their education in both paper and electronic form. Please find below the most important information, which we recommend that you keep together with the diploma, so that you have it available at any time.
Documents in electronic form – The digital versions of the documents are provided in the PDF/A format designed for archiving, with a qualified electronic seal and qualified time stamp. The documents are made accessible through the Study Information System (SIS) and may be used for electronic communication with institutions or employers.
Documents in paper form – The documents printed on handmade paper are signed by Charles University officials. They are handed over to students at the graduation ceremony and may be used for communication in person.
The documents in both forms have the same legal force and are valid separately.
The authentication elements used for the documents in electronic form (seal and time stamps) guarantee that during their validity period the electronic document has not been modified. After the expiry of this period, you may request the issuance of an original counterpart of your documents with valid authentication elements.
The documents proving that you completed your studies are available:
-
On the Diplomas portal at: https://diploma.cuni.cz/en/alumni.
-
In the SIS in the Others section, E-diploma subsection at: https://is.cuni.cz/studium/eng/.
-
By clicking on the link in the email informing you that the electronic documents have been generated, which was sent to your email address.
You can download the documents after logging in with your password for the Central Authentication System (CAS) or Citizen Identity. Instructions for logging in or resetting your password are available at: https://ldapuser.cuni.cz/.

Charles University offers an online service allowing users to verify the authenticity of diplomas. The system enables third parties, such as employers or foreign institutions, to verify that the document presented to them was indeed issued by Charles University and that it has not been modified.

How to convert an original electronic diploma to paper form via Czech POINT
If you need to convert an electronic diploma to an official paper document, you can use the authorized document conversion service at a Czech POINT location. The resulting document has the same legal validity as the original electronic document.
Documents produced through authorized electronic conversion cannot be submitted to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for higher authentication; a paper original must be provided. If you require a paper diploma to be issued prior to the graduation ceremony, please contact your faculty’s study department.
Procedure:
1. Downloading electronic documents
Download the original electronic version of your diploma and diploma supplement. Electronic graduation documents are available via:
- The Graduation Documents portal – https://diploma.cuni.cz/cs/absolvent,
- SIS in the Graduation Documents section – https://is.cuni.cz/studium,
- The link in the notification e-mail regarding the generation of your electronic documents, which was sent to your e-mail address.
2. Uploading documents to the Repository for authorized conversion
The recommended method is to use the service Repository for authorized Czech POINT conversion, available at: https://www.czechpoint.gov.cz/uschovna/file/save.
Upload the documents you want to convert to the document repository, i.e. your diploma and diploma supplement.
If the document fails to upload, the problem may be due to an invalid digital signature or because the document was edited or otherwise modified after it was downloaded. In such a case, you must download a new, original version of the document (see step 1).
Once the documents have been successfully uploaded, the system will generate a Document Upload Confirmation. You must keep this confirmation, ideally printed out, because you will need it when you visit a Czech POINT location.
3. Visiting a Czech POINT location
At the Czech POINT counter, request an “authorized conversion from electronic to paper form” and present the printed Document Upload Confirmation.
A Czech POINT employee will locate the documents, print them, and attach a certification statement that includes a stamp and details regarding the conversion. This process provides you with hard-copy documents that are legally valid.
The standard administrative fee is CZK 30 for each page (or part thereof) of the converted document.

Diploma supplement
The diploma supplement is issued in accordance with Section 57 of Act 111/1998 Sb. on higher education institutions, centrally as a standardized output of the Charles University Information System.
The supplement follows the model established by the European Commission, the Council of Europe and UNESCO/CEPES, and is based on empirical data on professional qualifications collected and provided by higher education institutions. The supplement describes the nature, content, level and status of the studies completed by the holder of the diploma supplement, on which the acquired qualification is based. The supplement is a useful accompaniment to the holder’s standard diploma certificate. It can be used both nationally and internationally as an instrument to facilitate academic and professional mobility and to support the recognition of qualifications.
Although the diploma supplement is a public document, it is not a substitute for the standard diploma certificate, nor does it guarantee that the holder’s degree will be recognized. The diploma supplement is issued as a bilingual document (Czech-English). It is provided automatically and free of charge to all graduates.
