Implementing: Article 3 (3) of the Code of Study and Examination of Charles University

1 October 2018: Commencement of the academic year and the winter semester of the 2018-2019 academic year.
22 December 2018 – 2 January 2019: Christmas holiday
18 February 2019: Commencement of the summer semester of the 2018-2019 academic year
1 July 2019 – 31 August 2019: Summer break
30 September 2019: End of the 2018-2019 academic year
Under Article 3 (3) of the Code of Study and Examination of Charles University the deans of the faculties, after discussion with the Rector, set out in dean’s measures the date of the commencement of instruction, the examination period, practical training, the period for registration for subjects, and other details. With respect to the coordination of instruction and considering the permeability of study it is recommended that:

The commencement of instruction in the winter semester be set for 1 October 2018; |
b. |
The period for registration for subjects and for the schedule in winter semester be stipulated so that it includes the period from 24 September 2018 to 30 September 2018, and the period for registration for subjects and for the schedule of the summer semester be stipulated so that it includes the period from 11 February 2019 to 17 February 2019. Students of other faculties must be allowed to register for subjects during these periods. |

The examination period for the winter semester be set for the period from 14 January 2019 to 17 February 2019 and the examination period for the summer semester be set for the period from 27 May 2019 to 30 June 2019. |

A dean be also able to stipulate, in a dean’s measure, an examination period during the months of July and August 2019. |
No later than on 31 March 2018 the vice-deans for student affairs or a person authorised by them shall inform the Student Affairs Office of the Rector’s Office of the proposed dates for the mass electronic registration for subjects and schedules for both semesters of the 2018-2019 academic year.
The Student Affairs Office of the Rector’s Office will evaluate the proposed dates in cooperation with the Information Technology Institute from the point of view of potential conflicts, discuss the solution with the relevant faculties, and confirm the final dates no later than on 30 April 2018.
The Rector’s Day will be on 14 May 2019.
The Rector’s Measure No. 14/2017 is hereby repealed effective as of 31 October 2018.
