Responsible: Research Support Office
Effective date: 1 October 2020
An objective of this directive is to set out the rules for submitting applications for European Research Council grants (“ERC grants”) at Charles University (the “university”) so that the applications are submitted in cooperation with the research support offices of the individual faculties (units) and also in collaboration with the Research Support Office of the Rector’s Office of Charles University (the “RSO”). Another objective of the measure is to ensure the quality of submitted ERC grant applications so that the chances of success are increased. The directive is in accordance with the Strategic Plan of the University.
All ERC grant applications for which Charles University is the host institution must undergo a timely inspection by the relevant department of the Dean’s Office of the respective faculty (or respective department of the unit).
The completed ERC grant application is then sent electronically to the RSO of the Rector’s Office no later than one month before the deadline of the specific call.
In the event of a positive assessment of the material part of the application and inspection of the budget, a Letter of Commitment (“LoC”) is issued, which is a required part of the submitted project documentation. The LoC is signed by the Rector of the university based on the recommendation of the ERC coordinator at the university or the Vice-Rector for Research.
If the above conditions are not fulfilled, the ERC grant application cannot be submitted in the university’s name. In addition, financial support, in accordance with Rector’s Directive no. 36/2020, cannot be requested.
Rector’s Directive no. 57/2018 is hereby rescinded.
This directive comes into effect on 1 October 2020.
