Postdoc in the OP JAK project in the field of inorganic environmental geochemistry

The candidate will be involved in the work of the Environmental Geochemistry Group (https://egg.natur.cuni.cz/) of the Faculty of Science of Charles University.

Start date: by agreement ( May - June 2024 - 2028).

Duration: 4 years

Work in an internationally recognized group operating in the industry in the Czech Republic and in the mining regions of Africa.

Work in state-of-the-art laboratories for elemental and isotopic composition determination of traditional and non-traditional isotopes (laboratories with Mat 253, Delta advantage, ICP MS Neptune plus, ICP MS Thermo iCAP RQ spectrometers)

Opportunity to work in the field in sub-Saharan Africa.

Opportunity to participate in international conferences.

Salary competitive in the Czech Republic.

Qualification and Other Requirements:

Completion of a PhD in geology, geochemistry or related field (or will be completed prior to taking up the position).

Interest in experimental work in exogenic geochemistry, alteration of geomaterials, behavior of inorganic contaminants in soils, and the use of unconventional isotopes in geochemistry. Experience with similar issues, i.e. behaviour of compounds in exogenous processes, experience with isotope analysis of solids and solutions.

Motivation and enthusiasm for geochemistry with a particular interest in isotope geochemistry. 

Ability to work in a team. Publication activity.

Required education:Ph.D., CSc, Th.D. or comparable education abroad
Required language skills:English - B2 Independent User

Expected Start Date:June 01, 2024 or negotiable
Term contract:3 years
