The prize is named after Carl and Gerty Cori, husband and wife who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine together in 1947. Gerty Theresa Cori became the first woman in the world to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine and she is the only Czech female laureate of the Nobel Prize.

Article 2

The prize is awarded for a specific achievement or long-term activities, for example, projects or significant awareness activities, which contribute to creating equal opportunities.

Article 3

  1. The prize may be awarded to a person or a group of persons who are members of the academic community and other employees of the University.

  2. The members of the University’s Board for Equal Opportunities (“Board”) may not be nominated for the prize.

  4. The nominations must be submitted by the end of May of the given calendar year.

Article 5

  1. The Board is the advisory body of the Rector of the University for considering the nominations for the prize.

  2. The Board considers the nominations submitted and usually presents five of them to the Rector.

  3. A maximum of two prizes may be awarded each year.

Article 6

The nominations are assessed primarily based on the impact of the activity and the contribution thereof to creating equal opportunities.
