Eva Brožová

First year student at the Faculty of Arts, CU, majoring in Languages and Communication for the Deaf

(20 years old)

Eva was from Říčany. After graduating from Gymnázium Voděradská in Prague 10, she was accepted to the Faculty of Arts at Charles University. Her hobbies included reading books, playing the guitar, singing, doing tai chi and contemporary dance, growing and drying flowers, creating art, going hiking, and writing lyrics and poems, like the following:

When I close my eyes, I see silence,

Flowing through my heart.

I hear your beautiful eyes,

Whispering love.

I feel the light - it's where you are,

And darkness all around.

Now I hold your hand.

She had a gift for language. She remembered lyrics, conversations, and passages from books well, often looking them up later. She even created her own alphabet and experimented with wordplay.

From the age of eight, Eva was a member of the League of Forest Wisdom (www.ligalesnimoudrosti.cz), and later, she passed on what she had learned to younger children, including her brother Jakub, in the tribe (www.kmenbobru.cz) She believed that when they grew up, they too would pass on their knowledge. It wasn’t just her brother and the tribe that inspired her – she enjoyed creating puzzles, maps, treasure hunts, and exploring new things.

She organised a camp in Banát for the children of Czech compatriots.

Eva was a creator at heart. She made jewellery, collected and dried flowers, sewed clothes, embroidered, and burned patterns into wood. She found joy in small things, like old tins with a history – items with a “soul” that had serendipitously found their way into her hands.

Eva in her mother’s memories:

  • Evička loved people and always looked for the good in them. The world in her company was beautiful; she could always make others smile. She was incredibly perceptive and empathetic, full of love, non-judgemental, and open to other opinions. She had a deep desire to help those around her and saw things that others did not. She loved wildflowers, walking barefoot, and eating dark chocolate. She had a unique ability to turn small moments into warm memories. She was constantly learning and improving herself. A fighter, she never gave up.

  • Eva was also deeply interested in philosophy, believing it helped foster wisdom, reduced apathy, and made people more open, content, kind, and helpful. Recently, she became particularly passionate about her studies in sign language, which she felt was a valuable skill. We often attended children's theatre performances interpreted into sign language, and Evička watched the interpreters with fascination.
