The project One Comprehensive Research European University (1CORE) has been selected for funding under the 2022 European Universities call launched by the European Commission. The activities developed within the project will follow the successful pilot project that kick-started the building up of a truly integrated university ecosystem.
The members of the 4EU+ Alliance are committing to further deepening cooperation established in previous years in education, research and innovation. Moreover, 4EU+ welcomes a new member: the University of Geneva (Université de Genève) which joined the partnership of Charles University, Sorbonne University, Heidelberg University, the University of Copenhagen, the University of Milan and the University of Warsaw. The alliance will now be composed of seven comprehensive research-intensive European universities.
"Thanks to the previous project, many new scientific and educational collaborations started and we supported dozens of joint innovative educational projects. I am glad that the Swiss University of Geneva is joining us on this journey. With another member of the Alliance, the offer of working together for our researchers is expanding and new opportunities are opening up to our students,” Charles University Rector Milena Králíčková says. She herself has been involved in the 4EU+ Alliance since its founding.
In the four-year project, the 4EU+ Alliance will focus on consolidating a model of One Comprehensive European Research University based on a common inter-disciplinary educational offer, research-based, innovative educational approaches and enhanced physical and virtual mobility. It will also deepen the multifaceted student-centred approach and develop new joint digital infrastructures and services. Intensive cooperation with associated partners and institutions will play an important role, as well as the dialogue with other alliances, which, like 4EU+, contribute to building the European educational and research area and strive for a more inclusive, ecological and digital European society.
The 4EU+ Alliance was established in March 2018 as a comprehensive partnership to develop a new quality of cooperation in research, innovation, education and services, and to establish an appropriate platform ensuring free circulation of students, faculty, staff, ideas and sharing of infrastructures. The Alliance is based on a shared vision for a European University that embraces academic values, ensures equitable access to education, and shapes the next generations of open-minded and critical-thinking citizens, ready to face and solve global challenges. In 2021, the Association 4EU+ European University Alliance e.V., was created with the seat in Heidelberg.
