Praha, 19/10/2022 -Univerzita Karlova, ve spolupráci s Ministerstvem zahraničních věcí ČR, po konzultacích s Evropskou komisí a některými dalšími členskými státy, přispěje oblasti Východního partnerství EU a v rámci nově vznikající iniciativy Eastern Partnership University Cluster vytvoří konsorcium univerzit. Slavnostní zahájení konference k této iniciativě se uskuteční dnes 19. října 2022 od 10 hod. ve Vlasteneckém sále Karolina, za účasti rektorů partnerských univerzit, zástupců Ministerstva školství, mládeže a tělovýchovy ČR, Ministerstva zahraničních věcí ČR, a diplomatického sboru.

Eastern Partnership University Cluster jakožto pilotní projekt vytvoří konsorcium spolupracujících univerzit z Evropské Unie a zemí Východního partnerství, které bude systematicky rozvíjet spolupráci v oblasti vzdělávání, vědy a výzkumu. Toto konsorcium bude zároveň vytvořeno pod hlavičkou aliance prestižních evropských univerzit 4EU+, jelikož jeho jádro budou tvořit čtyři členové této aliance.

V první fázi se celý koncept zaměří na spolupráci s partnerskými univerzitami asociovaných zemí Východního partnerství, konkrétně Ukrajiny, Moldavska a Gruzie. Všem těmto zemím přiznala EU evropskou perspektivu a v případě Ukrajiny a Moldavska statut kandidátské země.

„Jsem nesmírně ráda, že je to právě Univerzita Karlova, která stojí u vzniku této iniciativy. Díky projektům, jako je tento, se totiž stává skutečně otevřeným prostorem, jež podporuje studentky a studenty napříč zeměmi i kulturami. Současně věřím, že tato iniciativa přispěje nemalou měrou k šíření evropské akademické praxe,“ dodává k projektu rektorka Univerzity Karlovy Milena Králíčková.

Na oficiálním zahájení konference k iniciativě Eastern Partnership University Cluster dojde i na slavnostní podpis Memoranda o spolupráci mezi všemi dvanácti partnerskými univerzitami, které projevily zájem připojit se k iniciativě. Konkrétně se jedná o partnerské univerzity z EU: Charles University, University of Milan, University of Warsaw, University of Cologne, Heidelberg University, and Eötvös Loránd University a dále pak o partnerské univerzity z asociovaných zemí Východních partnerství (Ukrajina, Moldavsko, Gruzie): Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukrajina), Uzhhorod National University (Ukrajina), Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukrajina), Oles Honchar Dnipro National University (Ukrajina), Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (Gruzie), Moldova State University (Moldavsko).

Na konferenci budou mimo jiné představena očekávání, která univerzity od spolupráce v rámci nově vznikajícího konsorcia mají.  Experti zapojených univerzit zde také uvedou konkrétní příklady úspěšně realizovaných projektů zaměřených na oblast vědy, výzkumu a vzdělávání.

Charles University stands behind the establishment of the EU and eastern partnership universities consortium

Charles University will contribute to the EU Eastern Partnership area and develop a more targeted consortium of universities within the framework of the newly emerging Eastern Partnership University Cluster, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and after consultations with the European Commission and some other member states.

The opening ceremony of the Conference of the initiative will take place on 19 October 2022 at 10 a.m. in the Patriotic Hall at Charles University, with the participation of the Rectors of the partner universities, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, and the diplomatic corps.

As a pilot project, the Eastern Partnership University Cluster will create a consortium of cooperating universities from the European Union and the Eastern Partnership countries to systematically develop inter-university cooperation in education, science, and research. This consortium will be created under the umbrella of the European University Alliance 4EU+, as its core will consist of four members of Alliance.

In the first phase, the whole concept of the initiative will focus on cooperation with partner universities from the associated countries of the Eastern Partnership – Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia. The EU granted all three countries a clear perspective of EU membership and candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova.

“I’m very glad it is Charles University that stands behind this initiative. Thanks to projects like this, the university has been truly an open space that supports students and students across countries and cultures. I believe this initiative will make a significant contribution to the spread of European academic practice,” says Milena Králíčková, the Rector of Charles University, about the project.

At the Conference's official opening, a Memorandum of Cooperation will be signed between all twelve partner universities that have expressed interest in joining the initiative. Specifically, the EU partner universities are Charles University, University of Milan, University of Warsaw, University of Cologne, Heidelberg University, and Eötvös Loránd University, as well as partner universities from the associated countries of the Eastern Partnership (Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia): Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine), Uzhhorod National University (Ukraine), Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine), Oles Honchar Dnipro National University (Ukraine), Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (Georgia), Moldova State University (Moldova).

The Conference will present the cooperation expectations of partner universities within the emerging consortium. In addition, experts from the participating universities will also introduce concrete examples of successfully implemented projects focused on science, research, and education.
