Praha – V úterý 7. března 2023 se na Univerzitě Karlově konala přednáška světově uznávaného politologa, profesora Ivan Krasteva Mezinárodní řád jako síň rozbitých zrcadel: Vyhlídka na rozvoj ve světě zničeném válkou. Akci pod záštitou Ministerstva zahraničních věcí ČR organizovala Univerzita Karlova ve spolupráci s Evropskou komisí a rozvojovým programem OSN (UNDP).

Ivan Krastev věnoval svou pražskou přednášku tématu roztříštěnosti a polarizace společnosti v mnoha částech světa, které se z národní úrovně následně přelévají do mezinárodní politiky a tu silně ovlivňují. Ideologická politika charakteristická pro studenou válku v současnosti ustoupila politice identity v globálním měřítku. Přední světový politolog poukazuje na konflikt mezi demokracií a autoritářstvím a jeho nepopiratelný dopad na zahraniční politiku států. Podle profesora Krasteva bude nyní mezinárodní politiku jednotlivých zemí ovlivňovat především kulturní válka mezi státy i uvnitř nich samých. Současná orientace v mezinárodní politice tak podle něj vyžaduje přeformulování komplexního spojení mezi domácí a zahraniční politikou.

Bulharský politolog a politický poradce Ivan Krastev je předsedou instituce Centre for Liberal Strategies se sídlem v bulharské Sofii. Je stálým spolupracovníkem Institute for Human Sciences ve Vídni, zakládajícím členem European Council on Foreign Affairs, členem správní rady The International Crisis Group a členem představenstva GLOBSEC, expertní skupiny zaměřené na zvyšování bezpečnosti, prosperity a udržitelnosti na celém světě se sídlem v Bratislavě. V letech 2015 až 2021 pravidelně přispíval do New York Times a v současnosti je redaktorem Financial Times.

Mezi jeho nejzásadnější knihy patří například Is it tomorrow yet? How the pandemic changes Europe, The Light that Failed: A Reckoning nebo After Europe. Ivan Krastev je vítězem Jean Améry Prize for European Essay Writing za rok 2020.

Vystoupení Ivana Krasteva je součástí celého cyklu přednášek Kapuscinki Development Lectures, který spoluorganizují Evropská komise, Rozvojový program OSN, partnerské univerzity a rozvojové think-tanky. Přednášky nabízí studentkám a studentům z členských států Evropské unie bezprecedentní příležitost dozvědět se nové zajímavé informace a diskutovat s předními světovými mysliteli o rozvojových otázkách, jako jsou například změna klimatu, lidská práva, účinnost pomoci, vztahy mezi Evropou a Afrikou a další. Přednášky tak přispívají k diskuzi a formulaci evropské rozvojové politiky. Od roku 2009 se uskutečnilo již více než 140 přednášek s více jak 50 000 účastníky. Projekt je financován Evropskou komisí.

Univerzita Karlova byla založena v roce 1348 a patří mezi nejstarší světové univerzity. V současnosti má 17 fakult (14 v Praze, 2 v Hradci Králové a 1 v Plzni), 3 vysokoškolské ústavy, 6 dalších pracovišť pro vzdělávací, vědeckou, výzkumnou, vývojovou, další tvůrčí činnost a pracoviště pro poskytování informačních služeb, 5 celouniverzitních účelových zařízení a rektorát jako výkonné pracoviště řízení UK. Univerzita je nejvýkonnější vědeckou institucí v ČR, jak ukazuje např. hodnocení vědeckých výstupů Radou pro výzkum, vývoj a inovace. Univerzita má přes 8 600 zaměstnanců, z toho téměř 4 000 akademických a vědeckých pracovníků. Na UK studuje téměř 51 000 studentů, což je zhruba jedna šestina všech studentů v ČR, kteří studují ve více než 870 akreditovaných studijních programech. V bakalářských studijních programech studuje 19 000 studentů, v magisterských téměř 25 000 studentů a v doktorských 6 700 studentů. Více než 10 800 studentů jsou cizinci. Univerzitu ročně absolvuje zhruba 8 000 studentů, kteří tradičně patří ke skupině obyvatel ČR s nejnižší nezaměstnaností. Nejrůznější kursy celoživotního vzdělávání ročně absolvuje přes 16 000 účastníků. Důraz klade univerzita i na mezinárodní spolupráci s prestižními vzdělávacími a vědeckými institucemi. UK uzavřela více než čtyři stovky bilaterálních smluv a 208 mezinárodních partnerských smluv se zahraničními univerzitami.

POLITICAL SCIENTIST IVAN KRASTEVAT CHARLES UNIVERSITY ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF A WORLD DESTROYED BY WAR

Prague – On Tuesday, March 7, 2023, Charles Univerzity hosted lecture by the world-renowned political scientist,Professor Ivan Krastev International Order as a Hall of Broken Mirrors: Development Prospect in a World shattered by war. The event was organized by Charles University in cooperation with the European Commission and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

Ivan Krastev dedicated his lecture in Prague to the topic of fragmentation and polarization of society in many parts of the world, which subsequently spill over from the national level into international politics and have a strong influence. The ideological politics characteristic of the Cold War have given way to identity politics on a global scale. The world's leading political scientist points out the conflict between democracy and authoritarianism and its undeniable impact on the foreign policy of states. According to Professor Krastev, the international policy of individual countries will now be primarily influenced by the culture war between states and within them. According to him, the current orientation in international politics requires a reformulation of the complex connection between domestic and foreign policy.

Bulgarian political scientist and political consultant Ivan Krastev is the chairman of the Centre for Liberal Strategies based in Sofia, Bulgaria. He is a permanent fellow at the Institute for Human Sciencesin Vienna, a founding member of the European Council on Foreign Affairs, a member of the Board of Directors of The International Crisis Group and a memberof the Board of Directors of GLOBSEC, an expert group focused on increasing security, prosperity and sustainability worldwide, based in Bratislava. He was a regular contributor to the New York Times between 2015 and 2021 and is currently an editor at the Financial Times.

Among his most important books are, for example, Is it Tomorrow, Yet? How the Pandemic Changes Europe, The Light that Failed: A Reckoning or After Europe. Ivan Krastev is the winner of the 2020 Jean Améry Prize for European Essay Writing.

Ivan Krastev's performance is part of the entire cycle of Kapuscinki Development Lectures, which is co-organized by the European Commission, the United Nations Development Programme, partner universities and development think tanks. The lectures offer students from the member states of the European Union an unprecedented opportunity to learn new interesting information and discuss with the world's leading thinkers about development issues such as climate change, human rights, aid effectiveness, relations between Europe and Africa and others. The lectures thus contribute to the discussion and formulation of European development policy. Since 2009, more than 140 lectures have been held with more than 50,000 participants. The project is financed by the European Commission.
