Praha, Cambridge v Massachusetts, 26. 4. 2023– Novým členem Americké akademie umění a věd byl dne 19. dubna 2023 zvolen český egyptolog a archeolog Miroslav Bárta z Českého egyptologického ústavu Filozofické fakulty Univerzity Karlovy.

Každoroční volba nových členů Americké akademie umění a věd je oceněním vynikajících výsledků významných světových osobností. Mezi prvními členy Akademie, jejíž vznik je datován rokem 1780, byli v roce 1781 například Benjamin Franklin nebo George Washington. Současná Akademie umění a věd je jak čestnou společností, která volí nové členy z neziskového, soukromého a veřejného sektoru, tak nezávislou politickou organizací s iniciativami v oblasti umění, demokracie, vzdělávání, globálních záležitostí a vědy.

„Členství v Americké akademii umění a věd si obrovsky vážím, protože je to společnost sdružující vědce, ke kterým s úctou vzhlížím a řada z nichž mě i významně ovlivnila. Pokud jde o důvody mého jmenování, mohu se dohadovat, že dílem to bylo za mou egyptologickou práci a archeologické objevy, ať už v Abúsíru či egyptské Západní poušti, dílem za výsledky mého teoretického zkoumání civilizací ve srovnávací perspektivě,“ uvedl ke jmenování do prestižní společnosti profesor Miroslav Bárta, autor teorie sedm zákonů vývoje civilizace, o níž v současnosti běží i celovečerní film Civilizace – Dobrá zpráva o konci světa.

Při oznámení letošních nových členů Akademie její současný prezident David W. Oxtoby řekl: „Zvolením těchto členů Akademie oceňuje vynikající výsledky, inovace a vůdčí schopnosti a uznává širokou škálu hvězdných úspěchů. Doufáme, že každý nový člen oslaví tento úspěch a připojí se k naší práci na podporu společného dobra.“

Téměř 270 členů zvolených v roce 2023 pochází z akademické sféry, umění, průmyslu, politiky, výzkumu a vědy a zahrnuje více než 40 mezinárodních čestných členů (IHM) z 23 zemí. Mezi členy zvolenými v roce 2023 jsou také:

THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES GRANTED MEMBERSHIP TO PROFFESOR BÁRTA FROM CHARLES UNIVERSITY

Prague, Cambridge, Massachusetts, April 26, 2023 - Czech Egyptologist and archaeologist Miroslav Bárta, member of the Czech Institute of Egyptology, Faculty of Arts, Charles University, was elected a new member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences on April 19, 2023.

The annual election of new members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences recognizes the outstanding achievements of distinguished world figures. Among the first members of the Academy, which dates back to 1780, were Benjamin Franklin and George Washington in 1781. Today's Academy of Arts and Sciences is both an honorary society that elects new members from the non-profit, private and public sectors, and an independent policy organization with initiatives in the arts, democracy, education, global affairs and science.

„I greatly value my membership in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences because it is a society of scholars whom I look up to and many of whom have influenced me significantly. As for the reasons for my appointment, I can guess that it was partly for my Egyptological work and archaeological discoveries, whether in Abusir or in the Egyptian Western Desert, and partly for the results of my theoretical investigation of civilizations in a comparative perspective,“ said Professor Miroslav Bárta, author of the theory of the seven laws of the development of civilization, which is currently the subject of the feature film Civilisation - The Good News About the End of the World.

In announcing this year's new members of the Academy, its current President David W. Oxtoby said: „With the election of these members, the Academy is honoring excellence, innovation, and leadership and recognizing a broad array of stellar accomplishments. We hope every new member celebrates this achievement and joins our work advancing the common good.”

The nearly 270 members elected in 2023 come from academia, the arts, industry, politics, research and science and include more than 40 International Honorary Members (IHMs) from 23 countries. The members elected in 2023 include:
