Praha, 19. 6. 2024 – Největší česká univerzita a Planetum – Hvězdárna a planetárium hlavního města Prahy se dohodly na vzájemné podpoře a spolupráci v oblasti astronomie, fyziky, chemie, biologie, zeměpisu, IT a dalších příbuzných oborů.

Společně připraví konkrétní projekty v oblasti vzdělávání a vědy, které povedou ku prospěchu v oblasti pedagogiky, vzdělávání v oblasti astronomie, fyziky, chemie, biologie, zeměpisu, IT a související popularizace, a to i za účelem rozvoje nových forem neformálního i formálního vzdělávání a rozvoje občanské společnosti.

Planetum má zájem spolupracovat s Univerzitou Karlovou v oblasti popularizace astronomie a příbuzných přírodních a technických věd a případně se podílet na výzkumu a vývoji v těchto oblastech. Odborné podpory se díky tomu dostane také studujícím oborových didaktik UK, kteří se budou moci zapojit do aktivit Planetum, stážovat a mít praxi v jeho prostorech, případně se účastnit praktických akcí dle svých aktuálních možností.

„Této spolupráce si velmi vážíme. Kromě kooperace se vzdělávacím centrem Didaktikon na popularizaci vědy a vesmíru, který každým rokem navyšuje kapacitu návštěvnosti, vidíme významný potenciál ve zvyšování vědecké a technické gramotnosti středoškolských studujících a jejich motivaci ke studiu špičkové vědy, technologií, inženýrství a matematiky, tedy oborů, které následně mohou přijít studovat právě na Univerzitu Karlovu,“ říká rektorka Univerzity Karlovy Milena Králíčková.

Díky nově podepsanému memorandu budou obě instituce také vzájemně sdílet edukační pomůcky, exponáty a další didaktické materiály, například publikace, edukační hry nebo nejrůznější vzdělávací pomůcky.

„Společná podpora oborových didaktik, a nemusí se jednat jen o přírodní vědy, je jen jednou z mnoha oblastí, které se Univerzita Karlova věnuje a jsme rozhodně otevřeni spolupráci i s dalšími institucemi. Popularizace vědeckého potenciálu výzkumu vesmíru a témat souvisejících je nesmírně důležitá a určitě se jedná o oblast, které bude třeba věnovat v budoucnu více pozornosti,“ dodává prorektor pro vnější vztahy Univerzity Karlovy Martin Vlach.

Kromě jiného nabídla univerzita činnost dobrovolnic a dobrovolníků prostřednictvím Dobrovolnického centra UK. Planetum pak přislíbilo poskytnout UK anonymizovaná data z vlastních šetření nebo výzkumů a sdílet své výstupy.

„Podepsané memorandum je pro nás skvělou příležitostí podpořit vzdělávání mladých lidí v oborech, které mají nesmírnou hodnotu pro celou společnost. Spojení s Univerzitou Karlovou považuji za zcela logický krok, který dopomůže mimo jiné zviditelnit tyto důležité oblasti vědy,“ doplňuje ředitel Planetum Jakub Rozehnal.

Obě strany se v memorandu mimo jiné zavázaly propagovat společné aktivity. Univerzita také podpisem deklarovala svůj zájem spolupracovat nejen na podpoře oborových didaktik v dotčených oblastech, ale také vnímá výzvu rozšířit tuto spolupráci na oblast celoživotního vzdělávání či společnou podporu didaktiky v rámci vzdělávacího centra Didaktikon, jehož cílem je vzdělávat školní mládež, ale také jejich pedagogy a pedagožky.

Charles University and Planetum will jointly promote astronomy

Prague, June 19, 2024 - The largest Czech university and Planetum - the Prague Observatory and Planetarium have agreed on mutual support and cooperation in the field of astronomy, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, IT and other related fields.

Together they will develop specific projects in the field of education and science that will benefit pedagogy, education in astronomy, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, IT and related popularisation, including for the development of new forms of non-formal and formal education and the development of civil society.

The Planetum is interested in cooperating with Charles University in the field of popularisation of astronomy and related natural and technical sciences and possibly participating in research and development in these fields. This will also provide professional support to the students of didactics of the Charles University, who will be able to participate in Planetum activities, to intern and practice in its premises, or to participate in practical events according to their current capabilities.

"We very much appreciate this cooperation.In addition to the cooperation with the Didaktikon educational centre to popularise science and space, which increases the capacity of visitors every year, we see significant potential in increasing the scientific and technical literacy of secondary school students and motivating them to study cutting-edge science, technology, engineering and mathematics, i.e. fields that they can subsequently come to study at Charles University," says Milena Králíčková, Rector of Charles University.

Thanks to the newly signed memorandum, the two institutions will also share educational aids, exhibits and other didactic materials, such as publications, educational games or various educational aids.

"The joint support of didactics, and it does not have to be only natural sciences, is just one of the many areas that Charles University is dedicated to and we are definitely open to cooperation with other institutions.Popularising the scientific potential of space research and related topics is extremely important and it is certainly an area that will need more attention in the future," said Martin Vlach, Vice-Rector for External Relations at Charles University.

Among other things, the University offered volunteer activities through the UK Volunteer Centre. Planetum then promised to provide the UK with anonymised data from its own surveys or research and to share its outputs.

"The signed memorandum is a great opportunity for us to support the education of young people in fields of immense value to society as a whole.I consider the association with Charles University to be a logical step that will help, among other things, to raise the profile of these important areas of science," adds Planetum director Jakub Rozehnal.

In the Memorandum, the two parties undertook, among other things, to promote joint activities. The university has also declared its interest in cooperating not only in supporting didactics in the areas concerned, but also sees the challenge of extending this cooperation to the area of lifelong learning or joint support of didactics within the Didaktikon educational centre, which aims to educate school children, as well as their teachers and educators.
