Junior Visiting Fellows in 2 new Research Focuses:

"United Europe - Divided Memory" and "Religion and Secularism"

OBJECTIVE

The Institute for Human Sciences awards research fellowships to young scholars at the beginning of their academic career to pursue their individual project while working "in residence" as members of the international, multidisciplinary scholarly community of the IWM which consists of approximately forty Visiting Fellows and Junior Visiting Fellows every year.

CONDITIONS

Scholars working on projects related to the topics "United Europe - Divided Memory" or "Religion and Secularism" are invited to spend six months at the IWM. The Fellows will receive a stipend of 10.500 Euro for Ph.D. candidates or 15.000 Euro for Post-Docs to cover travel, accommodation in Vienna, health insurance and incidentals. The IWM will provide the Fellows with an office and access to e-mail and internet, in-house research facilities and other relevant sources in Vienna.

CANDIDATES

- must be Ph.D. student or Post-Doctoral researchers

- should not be older than 35

- must be working on a project related to one of the above mentioned research fields

Accepted are all disciplines in the humanities and social sciences

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

The application consists of the following materials:

- Application form (please download from the IWM website)

- Letter of Motivation (including expected benefits of the fellowship and relationship of the research project to the IWM research focus)

- Project Proposal in English (max 5 pages)

- CV + Publications

- Names and contact details of 3 references

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis without set deadlines. The evaluation procedure may take up to three months.
