Professional profile:
Graduated in medicine and Ph.D. studies at the Third Faculty of Medicine of Charles University. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship in the USA at Johns Hopkins University on a Fulbright scholarship and was later appointed Associate Professor of Internal Medicine. Since 2017, he has been the Head of the Department of Pathophysiology at the Third Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, where he served as Vice-Dean for Development from 2018 to 2022. He participates in teaching undergraduate students and supervises postgraduate students, and is the chairman of the departmental board of the doctoral programme in Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology. His research and grant work with colleagues and students focuses on the influence of adipose tissue on the development of metabolic disorders, particularly in the context of hypoxia and sleep apnoea.
