Dear Alive licensees,

With the start of the academic year, we would like to inform you about several new features in the use of Charles University ID cards with an Alive licence, which are provided in the Czech Republic by GTS Alive, s.r.o. In particular, this represents a further step in the long-term digitisation process. In this case, it relates to the digital revalidation (extension of the validity) of the licence.

Who is covered by the digital extension of the Alive licence?

All holders of Charles University cards with an Alive licence, with the exception of holders of an Alumni Club membership card.

What does it mean for you?

If you visit any of Charles University's Card Issuing Centres, you will pay 320 CZK for the renewal of the licence and the validity of the digital card will automatically change in the Alive app.

Instructions on how to download the app

The validity on the plastic card will no longer be extended (with the exceptions given below), so you will not need a revalidation stamp like in previous years. The plastic card will continue to be used within the University.

As in previous years, Alumni Club membership cards will be renewed with a holographic revalidation stamp, which will be adhered directly to the plastic card by the operator at the Card Issuing Centre.

Can I really prove my identity digitally everywhere?

Ensuring the demonstrability of the right to a discount in cooperation with its contractual partners is the responsibility of GTS Alive, s.r.o. as the licensing authority of ITIC in the Czech Republic. If there is any obstacle to the possibility of verifying entitlement to an ITIC benefit that is the fault of the provider of this benefit, please contact the GTS Alive, s.r.o. client helpline directly, where they will verify your entitlement and contact their contractual partner to ensure that you subsequently receive the discount.

What if I can't use the mobile app?

In addition to the electronic form of the ISIC card, its plastic counterpart is still available, but always only with the stated validity, i.e. without an annual revalidation mark. In the event that you need a new plastic card so that the validity of ITIC can be marked for the next year, it will be issued to you in the 2024/2025 academic year with a discount for the issuing of a duplicate card. A duplicate card will therefore now cost only 100 CZK.

What if I don't want to renew my licence?

In this case, you will retain the original plastic card, which you can show to prove that you are an employee of Charles University and which will give you access to buildings and services within the University.

Standard validity of the Alive card is from the beginning of September of one year to the end of December of the following year. Come and renew your licence on time so you avoid the big queues in November.
