CU Equal Opportunities Board
One of the first steps taken under the Equal Opportunities Plan was the creation of the Equal Opportunities Board. The first Equal Opportunities Plan of Charles University was approved in 2022, and the Board was established in the same year in connection with the Plan. Its current functioning is governed by Rector’s Measure 52/2025 Constitution of the Equal Opportunities Board of Charles University and is an advisory body of the Rector and the relevant Vice-Rector or the member of the Rector's Board en-trusted with the equal opportunities agenda. In particular, the Board's remit is to provide opinions, recommendations and feedback in the field of equal opportunities and the me-diation of information between the Rector, the CU Rectorate, individual faculties and oth-er units. The Board has no executive powers.
The Board meets at least four times a year. In the time between these meetings, it par-ticipates in various activities related to equal opportunities (for example, organisation of awareness-raising events) or offers professional feedback in the form of commenting on intra-university documents. Working groups are set up within the Board to address spe-cific topics within the equal opportunities agenda.
The Board has at least seventeen members, who appointed by the Rector primarily from candidates nominated by faculties and other units (the “faculties”). Each faculty may nom-inate one candidate to the Rector. One member of the Board is appointed by the Rector on the advice of the Academic Senate of Charles University.
