Since 2017, Charles University has been awarded the Donatio Universitatis Carolinæ research grant to support eminent scientists who contribute to the University's professional prestige.
However, it has become clear that this concept needs to be reformed and transformed into a systematic support concept.
The Donatio Universitatis Carolinæ Chair is research support intended to contribute to the future development of a particular field. The support aims to make the University's faculties and institutes more competitive internationally by supporting researchers capable of bringing new ideas and innovative approaches to their fields.
The aim is to support (for a minimum of six months and a maximum of two years) senior researchers with adequate experience (usually with long-term experience abroad or coming from abroad, mid-career researchers, R3, i.e. eight or more years after receiving their PhD).
