The Neuron Foundation this year recognised numerous top scientists incl. experts from Charles University. The award for a lifelong contribution to science went to Czech internationally-known chemist František Švec from the Faculty of Pharmacy. CU also clinched awards for promising scientists.

Czech trilobites are in Nature! Palaeontologists from The Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, and their colleagues describe a 465-million-year-old trilobite with preserved gut contents. This unique fossil, three-dimensionally preserved in a so-called Rokycany ball, was found more than a hundred years ago. But it has revealed its secrets only now.

According to the latest edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024, Charles University is among the top 500 universities worldwide. Compared to the previous two years (where it ranked among the top 600), the school has moved up into the top 500. CU remains the highest-ranked university in the Czech Republic.
