Vyjádření vedení UK k plánované reorganizaci na FF UK
Reorganizace FF UK je dlouhodobě připravovaným procesem, jehož cílem není plošné omezení činnosti fakulty ani rušení humanitních oborů, ale úprava jejího organizačního uspořádání a efektivnější využití dostupných kapacit. Změna organizační struktury přitom sama o sobě neznamená zánik příslušného oboru nebo ukončení jeho výuky. Za zásadní považuje vedení UK ochranu práv studujících na FF UK. Ti se nemusí obávat o plynulost svého studia. Reorganizace nikomu nepřeruší ani neukončí studium. Každý ho bude moci dokončit v rozsahu a kvalitě odpovídající akreditovanému studijnímu programu.
Vedení Univerzity Karlovy si je vědomo složité finanční situace Filozofické fakulty UK a připravované organizační změny vnímá jako jeden z kroků k dlouhodobé stabilizaci jejího hospodaření. Rektor Jiří Zima i jeho kolegium jsou o průběhu změn vedením FF UK průběžně informováni a situaci sledují. Samotná příprava a realizace organizačních změn je však plně v kompetenci vedení fakulty a jejích samosprávných orgánů. Úkolem vedení univerzity je dbát na dodržování právních a vnitřních předpisů UK a pravidel akademického a pracovněprávního prostředí.
České vysoké školy dlouhodobě čelí nedostatečnému a obtížně předvídatelnému financování, které se promítá do možností jednotlivých fakult udržovat stávající organizační a personální strukturu. Organizační změny a snižování počtu pracovních míst se proto v posledních letech netýkají pouze Filozofické fakulty UK, ale probíhaly či probíhají také na dalších fakultách, například na Fakultě tělesné výchovy a sportu nebo Právnické fakultě UK.
Udržení ekonomické stability jednotlivých součástí patří mezi klíčové cíle Strategického záměru Univerzity Karlovy na období 2026–2030, který počítá se zjednodušováním vnitřních procesů a důrazem na efektivitu řízení. Kroky směřující k finanční stabilizaci FF UK jsou tak v souladu se strategickými prioritami celé univerzity.
Univerzita Karlova dlouhodobě usiluje o zlepšení financování vysokých škol a považuje za potřebné diskutovat také o principech vnitřního rozdělování finančních prostředků v rámci UK. Jejich případná revize by měla zohledňovat především kvalitu a výkon ve vzdělávání a vědecké činnosti, stejně jako schopnost vytvářet podmínky pro úspěšné a včasné dokončování studia.

Statement by Charles University management on the planned reorganisation at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University
The reorganisation of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, is a process that has been in the pipeline for some time; its aim is not to impose across-the-board restrictions on the faculty’s activities or to abolish humanities programmes, but rather to adjust its organisational structure and make more efficient use of available resources. A change to the organisational structure does not, in itself, mean the discontinuation of a particular programme or the cessation of teaching in that field. The Charles University management considers the protection of the rights of students at the Faculty of Arts to be of paramount importance. Students need not worry about the continuity of their studies. The reorganisation will not interrupt or terminate anyone’s studies. Everyone will be able to complete their studies to the extent and standard corresponding to the accredited degree programme.
The management of Charles University is aware of the difficult financial situation facing the Faculty of Arts and views the planned organisational changes as one of the steps towards the long-term stabilisation of its financial management. Rector Jiří Zima and his collegium are kept regularly informed by the Faculty of Arts management about the progress of the changes and are monitoring the situation. However, the actual preparation and implementation of the organisational changes fall entirely within the remit of the faculty’s management and its self-governing bodies. The university management’s role is to ensure compliance with Charles University’s legal and internal regulations, as well as the rules governing the academic and employment environment.
Czech universities have long faced insufficient and difficult-to-predict funding, which affects the ability of individual faculties to maintain their existing organisational and staffing structures. Organisational changes and job cuts have therefore not only affected the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in recent years, but have also taken place or are currently taking place at other faculties, such as the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport or the Faculty of Law at Charles University.
Maintaining the financial stability of individual constituent parts is one of the key objectives of Charles University’s Strategic Plan for 2026–2030, which envisages the simplification of internal processes and an emphasis on management efficiency. Measures aimed at the financial stabilisation of the Faculty of Arts are thus in line with the strategic priorities of the university as a whole.
Charles University has long sought to improve the funding of higher education institutions and considers it necessary to also discuss the principles governing the internal allocation of funds within the University. Any revision of these principles should take into account, above all, quality and performance in education and research, as well as the ability to create conditions for the successful and timely completion of studies.
