A 4EU+ Student Ambassador Shares His Experience with 4EU+ Opportunities

My name is Tanveer Yaqub, and I am a medical student in the English-taught General Medicine programme at the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové, Charles University. I come from Bihar, India, and my academic journey has been shaped by a strong interest in medicine, international education, and collaboration across borders.
Alongside my studies, I have actively sought international opportunities, which eventually led me to become a 4EU+ Student Ambassador. For me, the 4EU+ Alliance represents not only academic mobility, but also a meaningful platform for cooperation, cultural exchange, and the development of future-oriented European higher education.
I first learned about 4EU+ Alliance through university mobility announcements. What immediately attracted me was the possibility of studying across a network of leading European universities while staying connected to my home institution. As a medical student, I believe that healthcare education benefits enormously from international exposure—learning in different academic environments and understanding diverse healthcare perspectives. The 4EU+ Alliance offered exactly that: a structured and inspiring framework through which academic mobility becomes both accessible and intellectually enriching.
My experience with 4EU+ has included both virtual and physical mobility. During the winter semester 2023/2024, I completed the virtual course International Healthcare Systems at the University of Warsaw. In the summer semester I attended english language course at Sorbonne Université. In the current academic year I am also enrolled in English C1 at Sorbonne Université, which has further supported my academic communication skills in an international environment.
One of the most memorable experiences for me was participating in the Global Health Solutions 2025 programme at the University of Copenhagen, which focused on interdisciplinary approaches to global health challenges. It brought together students in a collaborative setting to discuss major global health challenges from multidisciplinary and international perspectives. I found that experience especially inspiring because it reflected the real-world importance of cooperation in medicine and public health. I will soon continue my 4EU+ journey with a surgical practice mobility at the University of Milan, which I see as another valuable step in my education.
Through these experiences, I have not only expanded my academic knowledge not only subject-specific knowledge, but also my academic adaptability and confidence in engaging with complex topics in international settings. The alliance also contributed greatly to my personal and professional development. I developed stronger communication skills, particularly in multicultural academic environments, and gained a deeper appreciation of how collaboration across universities can advance both education and research. Equally important were the connections I formed with students and faculty members from different countries. These interactions expanded my perspective and reinforced the value of international cooperation in medical education and healthcare.
I would strongly encourage students to explore the opportunities offered by the 4EU+ Alliance. These programmes provide much more than academic credit; they create access to new ideas, new institutions, and new professional networks. They challenge students to step into broader academic spaces and to see their field from an international perspective.
My advice would be to apply with seriousness, curiosity, and consistency. Some opportunities are understandably competitive, but the process itself is worthwhile, and participation can be genuinely transformative. In my own experience, 4EU+ has opened important academic doors, strengthened my confidence, and enriched my educational journey in ways that extend far beyond the classroom. If approached with commitment, these opportunities can become an important part of one’s long-term academic and professional growth.
