Flagship: 1 - Urban Health and Demographic Change
Faculty: FTVS
Project leader: Buriánková, Jitka
The project aims to analyse factors influencing patient behaviour regarding participation in preventive screenings across different countries. The research will focus on what motivates patients to attend check-ups with general practitioners and the barriers that discourage participation. Cultural, economic, systemic and psychological factors will be examined to better understand the decision-making process surrounding preventive health care.
The project builds on collaboration established through the jointly organised conference “Health in the City. Exploring Urban Health from a Social Science Perspective” in 2024. The University of Geneva, the University of Milan and Charles University will jointly develop a standardised questionnaire to collect comparable data from their respective countries. This approach will integrate diverse research perspectives and contribute to embedding urban health in the European context of the partner universities.
Planned activities include joint meetings to align research objectives, pilot testing of the questionnaire, independent data collection, analysis of results and preparation of a joint scholarly publication. The partners will also record a podcast for students and organise an open lecture to share results. This collaboration is designed to strengthen interdisciplinary links, support long-term cooperation in social science research and create a foundation for future joint funding applications, including Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe opportunities.
