This project strengthens the 4EU+ network of scholars in queer and gender studies by focusing on queer pedagogies. Building on the mini-grant Representing Same-Sex Desire, it addresses the need to understand and translate the diversity of European traditions in queer and gender studies within the context of dominant globalised canons. Through a series of events culminating in the February 2026 symposium in Prague, the project will create a shared knowledge base, exchange teaching practices and integrate innovative methods into university courses across the alliance.
The initiative brings together colleagues from Charles University, Sorbonne University, the University of Copenhagen, the University of Milan, the University of Warsaw, Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas, and Université de Genève, with CEFRES Prague as an associated partner. Activities include five hybrid seminars, two strategic workshops, the launch of the MA programme Gender and Sexuality at the University of Warsaw, and an online PhD conference. The focus is on building a durable research and teaching network, supporting exchanges of academics and students, and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
The project will consolidate collaboration between multiple institutions, enable mobility for PhD students and early career scholars, and develop comprehensive joint projects in the field. By combining perspectives from literature, history, philosophy and cultural studies, it will contribute to the 4EU+ Strategy 2025–2035, foster interdisciplinary dialogue, and support the development of a common research-based educational framework in queer and gender studies.
