Project support is generally purpose-specific and allocated through competitive calls. Here you will find details on current calls and opportunities, project administration (including rules for the use of funds), and everything you need to know in order to apply for support. Before submitting an application in any call, we strongly recommend reviewing the call guidelines, the relevant Rector’s Measure, and the rules for the utilisation of funds and reimbursement of expenses for 4EU+ projects.

4EU+ Project Support

Within the 4EU+ Alliance, we provide both administrative and financial support to students and academics involved in developing cooperation among partner universities.

Support is provided in two main forms:

• Institutional Support – offered by the individual universities within the Alliance (at Charles University through the Rectorate).

• Alliance Support – granted directly by the governing bodies of the 4EU+ Alliance.

The key difference lies in the decision-making process: institutional support is awarded by each university, whereas alliance support is allocated by the designated 4EU+ bodies. However, the use of funds under both forms follows unified rules and is intended exclusively for activities that advance the strategic goals of the 4EU+ Alliance.

Institutional Support

Charles University supports activities that strengthen cooperation in education, science, and research through several project schemes. Applications for funding may be submitted under the university’s programme for excellence and opportunities within the 4EU+ Alliance (FoCUs: 4EU+).

The FoCUs: 4EU+ programme provides support for student and academic teams at Charles University implementing joint projects with partners from other 4EU+ universities, as well as for academic and student mobility within the Alliance. The scheme builds on previous academic and student minigrants and non-project mobility opportunities.

Alliance Support

As part of its alliance-level support for 4EU+ cooperation, the 4EU+ Alliance regularly launches the SEED4EU+ call, which supports teams of academics in implementing innovative, primarily research-oriented projects aimed at strengthening collaboration among the 4EU+ member universities. In addition, the Alliance annually announces the Visiting Professorships initiative and supports alliance educational projects.
