Researcher at National Institute of Mental Health

Expertise and focus:

As an MSCA MERIT Fellow and Chartered Scientist (CSci) with over 12 years of research experience, my core expertise lies at the intersection of nanomedicine, biomaterials, and computational modeling. I specialize in the design, green/chemical synthesis, and characterization of functional nanomaterials (including metal oxide, dendrimer, and nanocellulose platforms) for therapeutic applications targeting metabolic disorders and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's. Additionally, I integrate machine learning models and experimental optimization (Design-Expert®) to refine formulation parameters, evaluate cell–nanoparticle interactions, and enhance drug delivery systems.

Form of mentoring meetings:

Previous mentoring experience:

As a mentor - Over 12 years of research, I have mentored 14 undergraduate final-year projects, 3 Master’s theses/early projects, 8 research interns, and 2 PhD students. Beyond direct lab supervision, I have designed and delivered hands-on training workshops on experimental design (Design-Expert® software) for graduate students across India, Portugal, and Spain. My academic role also includes guest lecturing and guiding higher-degree research students through keynotes and colloquiums. These experiences have allowed me to effectively guide early-career researchers in hypothesis formulation, material synthesis, data analysis, and scientific manuscript preparation.

Motivation:

My primary motivation to become a mentor stems from a strong desire to empower the next generation of researchers by sharing the insights I have gained across 12+ years in academia and nanomedicine research. Having navigated interdisciplinary fields, international fellowships, and multi-country collaborations, I understand the pivotal role that structured guidance plays in an early-career researcher's trajectory. I am passionate about helping mentees bridge the gap between fundamental research and real-world application, refine their scientific communication, and develop critical problem-solving skills. Mentoring allows me to foster inclusive, supportive learning environments that inspire confidence, foster innovation, and accelerate academic growth.
