Czechs on Monday marked the anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia, with President Petr Pavel awarding state honours. Among the 56 invitees for the ceremonial gathering at Vladislav Hall at Prague Castle was Charles University Vice-Rector for Research Ladislav Krištoufek, who received a Medal of Merit in the Field of Science from the head-of-state.

Where better to kick off the 2024/25 academic year than at Kampus Hybernská cultural and educational centre? Upper-year students are already familiar with this creative hub, but for first-years, it was a truly an UniKátní START (Unique Start) to the next phase in educational life.
On 21 December 2023, we lost 14 students and colleagues who wished only to study, to teach, to help others. However, their legacy remains with us in the new academic year. A six-month internship for students from Sorbonne Université in France, facilitated by the 4EU+ Alliance and the Erasmus programme, has just wrapped up. The fascinating internship is run by the Faculty of Science in cooperation with Sotio Biotech.
