The Hall of Patriots at the Carolinum on Tuesday 16 April 2024, saw the awarding of exceptionally talented and creative students, graduates and alumni. The Bolzano Prize and the Rector's Prize were handed out in the traditional April ceremony by CU’s Rector Milena Králíčková. Thirteen people received awards in a special ceremony.

In total, CU was ranked in 25 subjects: in 22 of them CU is the highest-ranked Czech university ever. In addition, it made a completely new appearance in the ranking in four fields year-on-year.

Zuzana Čaputová was in Prague on Monday just a few days before the Slovak presidential elections. On what is one of her last trips to the Czech Republic as the Slovak head of state, the president, who is not running for a second term, visited CU’s Faculty of Arts to pay tribute to the victims of a shooting rampage in December. Last December 21, fourteen people – students and staff members – lost their lives after a gunman opened fire.

A bouquet with the French tricolour was placed in front of the main building of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University by Emmanuel Macron. During his visit to Prague on Tuesday, 5 March, the French President paid tribute to the victims of the tragedy that took place at the Faculty last December. President Macron was accompanied to the building on Jan Palach Square by his Czech counterpart Petr Pavel. In front of the building, they had a short conversation with the Rector of Charles University Milena Králíčková and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts Eva Lehečková.
