*The distance is calculated according to the calculator here, while Prague as the seat of Charles University is set as the starting point. Calculations are based on the locations of cities only. 

The amount of the travel grant is a fixed amount that does not depend on the actual amount of travel costs (it is not reduced or increased according to the actual price of tickets).

**Green Erasmus – important information

• If you choose an environmentally friendly mode of transport to and from Erasmus+ destinations, you are eligible for a higher travel allowance.

• The Green Erasmus grant is valid only in cases where the environmentally friendly mode of transport is chosen in both directions – when traveling to an Erasmus+ destination and back to the Czech Republic.

• The following are classed as eco-friendly modes of transport: train, bus, bicycle or carpooling in a shared car.

  NOTE: If someone drives you abroad and then returns on their own, this is not deemed carpooling. Only cases where everyone is travelling in the car in order to remain in the destination, e.g. when you arrange a trip with several students who are going to the same university as you, are eligible.

• The European Commission strongly recommends that a sustainable mode of transport be chosen for destinations that are 500 km or less away.

• When filling in the online application in the CU Web App, you must make a binding decision on your mode of transport, as this is used as the basis for calculating the amount of the scholarship.

• After returning, ecological travel way is proven by presentation of the following documents:

  • Travel documents for travel to and from the destination (tickets, invoices, fuel receipts…)

  • In the case of carpooling:

    • Proof that the trip actually took place (fuel receipt, motorway tolls, etc.)

    • Original of a statutory declaration with the signatures of all people who shared the vehicle. A sample of the statutory declaration is available for download here

  • If cycling:

    • Original of statutory declaration on completed journey.

Exceptionally High Travel Costs

If the established travel grant does not cover at least 70% of the travel costs, the student may submit an individual request for an increase sufficient to cover 80% of the total costs. The student must submit a justified request for the increase to erasmus.outgoing@ruk.cuni.cz.

This applies primarily to travel to remote destinations, e.g. the French overseas departments of Réunion or French Guiana. It also applies to travel to remote destinations under International Mobility.

**Green Erasmus – important information
