Czech Foundations and Agencies

Sophia Foundation
BA and MA students

Mobility worldwide

Primarily intended for students of economics and law, but anyone can apply

Application deadline: several times per year; it is necessary to monitor the foundation's website

Amount of support: up to CZK 15,000 based on the costs specified in your application; a one-off contribution (subsequently subject to proper financial settlement); may be used as co-financing, but other sources of support must be stated in the application

Foundation for the Development of Education

Intended as top-up funding for mobility within Erasmus+ or another exchange programme, if the scholarship awarded to the student is significantly insufficient to cover the costs

Preference is given to students in technical fields and medicine, though this is not a requirement

Only for doctoral candidates or postdoctoral researchers (eligibility requires recently completed PhD studies or holding a PhD degree up to the age of 35)

The scholarship is awarded for research at prestigious institutions on the basis of a research project

Fields of study: organic, bioorganic, or medicinal chemistry

Foundations and Grant Agencies Worldwide

SYLFF
PhD

The SYLFF scholarship programme of the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research supports the education of outstanding students with leadership potential.

Intended for students in the social sciences or humanities who demonstrate leadership potential; an important criterion is the societal impact of their doctoral research.

At the time of application, the student must be no more than in their third year of full-time doctoral studies.

Scholarship amount: USD 12,500 per year; includes funding for an international mobility stay.

Application deadline: usually at the end of April; applications are collected by faculty coordinators.

The JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) scholarship is intended for students who have been admitted to study at a Japanese partner university.

MEXT is a Japanese government scholarship for which students may apply through the embassy or their home university.

Visegrad Fund
MA and PhD

The Visegrad Scholarship supports Master’s and postgraduate students from the Visegrad Group countries (citizens of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia) undertaking study abroad at any accredited university or institute in another Visegrad country, as well as in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo*, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Ukraine.
