This year’s spring training series offered a wide variety of topics designed to help postdoctoral researchers develop both research-specific and transferable skills, supporting their next career steps. Over the course of the spring, we delivered 12 workshops attended by 105 early-career researchers, including participants from partner universities within the 4EU+ Alliance.

The sessions took place both online and in person at Kampus Hybernská, covering topics such as science communication, Lean Canvas, and the R programming language. March workshops – including those focused on Open Science and Well-being for Academics – were already featured here on our website. In April, we reported on sessions covering Research Data Management or Time Management for Research.

The final three spring events took place in May: Various Career Pathways in Research, Science Communication, and Citizen Science. The science communication workshop, led by Ing. Bc. Pavla Hubálková, Ph.D., introduced participants to the foundations of science communication and ways to present their research through various communication channels. Attendees explored what works (and what doesn’t) when communicating scientific results, and how to explain their research clearly and accessibly. The session also included hands-on activities and practical tips to help increase the visibility and impact of their work.

Mgr. Kateřina Cidlinská, Ph.D., guided participants through different career options in and beyond academia. The workshop provided an overview of career opportunities, the value of a doctoral degree, and real-life examples of postdocs working outside the university sector. In an interactive segment, attendees used worksheets to reflect on their goals and set clear priorities for their professional path.

The workshop led by Mgr. Michaela Lebedová focused on the principles of citizen science – a research approach that actively involves the public. Participants explored different types of citizen science initiatives, practical strategies for engaging the public, and successful project examples that showed how citizen science can support open research and bring added value to scientific work.

The autumn 2025 training series will once again offer a mix of well-received sessions and new topics, aligned with the European Research Competence Framework (ResearchComp) and designed to support researchers across disciplines.
