The Czech-German Future Fund (Deutsch-Tschechischer Zukunftsfonds) supports and deepens cooperation between the Czech Republic and Germany, focusing on mutual understanding through shared history and culture.
The scholarship program is intended for students who wish to undertake one- or two-semester study stays (beginning in the winter semester) as part of their academic studies. The scholarship is not awarded to those who have just completed another study stay in Germany. In addition, double funding is excluded, meaning students may not receive another scholarship simultaneously.
Students at all levels of humanities and social sciences can apply for the scholarship. Currently, the Czech-German Future Fund provides monthly grants of 650 EUR for bachelor’s students and 800 EUR for master’s and doctoral students.
The study stay abroad serves to acquire or deepen knowledge of the language and culture of the neighboring country. In addition, students are expected to gain insight into the academic life of the host country and actively participate in scholarly exchange. Therefore, scholarship holders are required to work on a specific Czech-German themed project during their stay and write a report on the topic (this may also be a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral thesis, which must then be submitted).
Each academic year, a limited number of scholarship places is announced, and applicants can apply in January. Scholarship recipients are selected by an independent committee of four members.
Information for applicants can be found on the website of the Czech-German Future Fund.
