The Charles University´s Centre for Lifelong Learning at the Rectorate supports cross-generational learning. The Centre offers CU employees a wide range of educational programmes focusing on various areas of competence, including pedagogical, managerial, IT, and language skills. The CU Educational Portal was created based on the HR Award’s Action Plan, and it contains educational programmes and courses from the entire university.
In addition, the CU Centre for Lifelong Learning is actively involved in the micro-credential agenda and independently implements projects, such as Junior University or the international science competition FameLab.
Promoting lifelong learning and international cooperation is the main goal of the Centre. It contributes to the philosophy of lifelong learning at Charles University and provides support to its faculties and units in creating educational opportunities for all generations, including interest- and profession-oriented programmes, the University of the Third Age, or foundation courses. The Centre also collaborates with partners abroad and introduces international trends to the Czech Republic.
Paedagogium is an innovative platform and advisory body of Charles University’s management that promotes the development of pedagogical competences and supports the professional growth of academics at the university. Its main goal is to create an environment where academics can acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed for effective teaching.
Paedagogium offers a wide range of educational programmes focusing on various aspects of higher education pedagogy, didactics, and psychology that are divided into six pillars of competence areas. These pillars are defined in the Framework for Effective Teaching at Charles University. The platform also organizes conferences, the Summer School for University Teachers, and the informal gathering of teachers called “Inspiration Café”, which promotes the sharing of experience and good practices among the academic staff, not only from the Czech Republic but also from abroad.
Hence, Paedagogium contributes to professional development and improves the quality of teaching at Charles University, which is a key aspect for maintaining our high level of education and strengthening the university’s international reputation.
